Keeping Love Young

Young love is beautiful to witness, and we’ve seen it between couples of all ages and stages of their relationship. Less to do with a number and more to do with a state of freshness and playfulness, young love happens when a couple manages to capture that elusive feeling of butterflies felt in the beginning of a relationship, and carry it with them for years to come.

One of our favorite parts of working in the jewelry industry is helping couples with a young, timeless love find pieces of jewelry to help celebrate their relationship, and make both special occasions and the everyday more memorable. In honor of Valentine’s Day, we’ve reached out to a few of our favorite Sissy’s couples for their advice on keeping love young.

Camille and Blake

Years married: 2.5

Love Story

Camille and Blake first met in the University of Arkansas cafeteria, where Camille was playing soccer, and Blake was running track. Even though they didn’t speak much to each other when they first met, they kept running into each other around campus, eventually developing a friendship. After getting to know each other better, it didn’t take long to realize their feelings went beyond “just friends,” and their relationship blossomed.

Advice on Keeping Love Young

“1. Laugh – My husband is witty and hilarious so he keeps me laughing all the time. 2. Embrace Adventure – We love to travel, explore and try new things. Every day brings something different and we embrace the uncertainty that life brings.” – Camille

For their first anniversary, Blake gave Camille a pair of brilliant diamond studs. She wears them often, and each day she puts them on, she is reminded of their wonderful first year of marriage.

Katy and Travis

Years married: 13

Love Story

Katy and Travis met in Fayetteville, Arkansas, when they incidentally both ended up at the same pool joint. Katy was with a friend who had begged her to come to a pool tournament, while Travis was there to celebrate his birthday. The two struck up a conversation, and became inseparable not long after.

Advice on Keeping Love Young

“We enjoy going on date nights, but that’s not always possible with children. Sometimes we make it a point to have lunch together instead. We also enjoy grilling out and hosting family and friends. It’s great to be able to work together in the kitchen.” – Katy

For their 10-year anniversary, Travis brought us Katy’s engagement ring and wedding band to be redesigned. To commemorate 10 years of marriage, we added 10 diamonds to Katy’s band, as well as a halo around her original engagement diamond. Katy says, “While maintaining the sentimental value of my original ring I was able to get a fresh look, and I really enjoy it.”

Years married: 29

Love Story

Kirk and Rae Ann met in Indianapolis, Indiana, where they were both living at the time. Rae Ann was walking her dog around the lake by her apartment, and Kirk was just getting off the lake after spending the day water skiing with friends. Rae Ann’s dog served as the initial conversation starter, and the rest is history.

Advice on Keeping Love Young

“As hard as it is sometimes, try not to take things so seriously. Have some fun, go with the flow, life’s an adventure after all!” – Rae Ann

Rae Ann commissioned us to craft a custom black diamond earring for Kirk last year. It serves as a simple reminder of their love and that memorable day by the lake.
