Emily Maynard made her debut on ABC’s The Bachelor in 2011, when Brad Womack chose her to be his fiancé on the season finale.

But like many of the couples that result from this much-loved reality show, Brad and Emily’s relationship couldn’t last the test of time. (Too bad, because we thought that engagement ring looked promising!)

But what a difference a year makes! Emily now has her own show, The Bachelorette, which premieres tonight on ABC at 8:30 p.m. central time. And we couldn’t be more excited ’cause we love this lady’s style!

Emily was known for her many bracelets that she wore during Brad’s season of The Bachelor. She told interviewers that each bracelet had meaning and was given to her over the years by her parents.

Emily also turned heads with her chandelier earrings, turquoise necklace, (well, maybe it was that red dress) and teardrop earrings. (For the teardrop earrings, check out her promo pic at the top of this blog post.) What will be her signature piece this season? Will she do bracelets again? Or maybe a special right-hand ring!? We just can’t wait to see what she wears.

Oh, and of course, we wish her the best of luck in finding “Mr. Right!”

William and Kate celebrated their first wedding Anniversary this past Sunday, April 29th. And while the couple reportedly spent a quiet weekend with friends, we were all glued to the television, reliving every moment of their lavish wedding celebration.

So let’s just take one more look at the jewels!

We knew Princess Kate would select something classy and understated, so much so that many debated whether or not she would wear a tiara. But come on! What girl becomes a Princess without a tiara?! Kate didn’t disappoint, and wore a tiara, her “something borrowed,” from the Queen.

The tiara is the Cartier ‘Halo’ tiara which was purchased in 1936 by King George VI for his wife, Elizabeth, also known as ‘The Queen Mother.’ The tiara was then passed from mother to daughter, on Queen Elizabeth II’s 18th birthday. Because this stunning piece is part of the Crown Jewels, Kate was only given this tiara on loan.

Next, Kate wore the most stunning diamond-set earrings which featured diamond oak leaves and pavé set diamond acorns suspended in the center. These earrings were a gift from her parents and inspiration for the jewelry came from the Middleton’s newly-acquired coat of arms.

So what about the rings?! Well, everyone knows that Kate was given Princess Diana’s sapphire engagement ring surrounded by a not-so-shabby 14 diamonds.

But the ring that William actually placed on Kate’s finger in Westminster Abby was equally as special. Her gold wedding band is made from gold mined near the mountains of Anglesey in Whales, where the newlyweds made their home. The gold nugget used to make the ring belonged to Queen Elizabeth II, who kept the precious metal locked away until she gave it to her then engaged grandson.

Like many celebrities of our day, Marilyn was able to wear expensive pieces on loan from jewelers for big premiers and promotional events. For the premiere of  ”Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” Marilyn wore a 25.95 carat diamond called The Moon of Baroda. It is a yellow diamond cut in the shape of a pear, and it is stunning! 

But what we find ironic is that Marilyn only owned two pieces of fine jewelry. (Albeit expensive fine jewelry!) She had a sting of Akoya pearls and an eternity diamond ring, both gifts from her husband and baseball legend, Joe DiMaggio.

We think Marilyn needed a few more best friends! And we think you do too!

Rose in the Heart of the Ocean necklace

But what is the truth about this interesting and beautiful piece of jewelry? Was it real or just a fictional aspect of Cameron’s movie?

The Heart of the Ocean diamond depicted in Titanic is actually a fictitious piece of jewelry that served as a major plot element in the 1997 film. The film’s diamond was fashioned after the actual Hope Diamond, a 45+ carat diamond that belonged to Louis XVI.

And while the actual Hope Diamond  was not aboard the Titanic on that fateful night, there was one real and unlucky diamond rumored to be on that 1912 voyage. A blue diamond pendant was given to passenger Kate Florence Phillips by her married lover and fellow passenger, Samuel Morley. The two were said to be fleeing to America to start a new life together when the ship sank.

While Morley and Jack both found a tragic end in the icy waters of the North Atlantic, the actual Hope Diamond still exists. The Hope Diamond is currently housed in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C. and is said to be the second-most visited artwork in the world after the Mona Lisa.
